(St. Charles Police Department) Hannah LeoneAurora Beacon-NewsPrivacy Policy A St. Charles woman accused of attacking her sleeping husband with a baseball bat has been charged with attempted murder.St. Charles police said a review of their records showed no previous domestic-related calls at the residence on the 400 block of Valley View Drive, where Donna J. Black, 58, is charged with trying to kill her 57-year-old husband.Police aren't sure what the motive may have been, said Deputy Chief Dave Kintz. For a house that has no history, this came out of nowhere, Kintz said. At bond call Monday, a Kane County judge set her bail at $750,000 for charges of attempted murder, a class X felony; and two counts of class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery Caleb Lewis Jersey, with one of the counts involving strangling.Black allegedly attacked her husband with a bat and pushed it down onto his neck in an attempt to strangle him, police said in a news release. The man's head had several lacerations and he got a broken arm trying to defend himself, police said. The disturbance, including the man's call for help, woke up the couple's adult daughter, whom police said called at 4:31 a.m. Sunday and said her mother was on top of her father, hurting him.The man was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where Black also was taken for an unknown medical condition, police said. She was released, taken into custody and processed at the city's police department before they transferred her Sunday to the Kane County Jail Derrius Guice Jersey, where she remained Monday afternoon. Kintz said the man is expected to recover from his injuries Justin McMillan Jersey. If she's released, conditions of Black's bond include no contact with him and staying away from the Valley View Drive address, Kintz said.Black is scheduled to appear in court Friday at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles. Court records indicate she has been assigned a public defender.hleone@tribpubTwitter @hannahmleone SportsBreakingMost PopularOpinionSuburbsEntertainmentBusinessAdvertising40
